In-house Support for the Office of Treaty Settlements

The Office of Treaty Settlements (OTS) recently engaged two analysts from Allen + Clarke to provide in-house support during a period of significantly increased workload.  The analysts worked within a Treaty negotiation team to assist with proceeding negotiations to the stage that iwi could take the Crown's settlement packages to their people for ratification.

The analysts took on individual aspects of the work programme with a range of tasks including the preparation of reports and advice for the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations on a variety of complex matters.  By having two full time analysts working with the team and providing a broad range of skills, the work pressure on other members of the team was reduced.  At the end of Allen + Clarke's time with OTS, two iwi had progressed to initialling a deed of settlement with the Crown, a significant milestone that had been ten years in the making and which Allen + Clarke was proud to be a part of.
